Inviting and managing team members
Open the Team page from the sidebar (paid plans only). From there you manage everyone who can access your workspace.
Invite someone
- Click Invite member.
- Enter their email and pick a role (Admin / Operator / Viewer, or one of your custom roles). The picker only offers roles whose permissions you hold yourself — nobody can invite someone into a role above their own. The Owner sees every role.
- Send the invite. They receive an email with a secure link.
Accepting: the invitee clicks the link and lands on the Accept invitation page.
- If they're new to Synacl, they set a name and password and are signed straight in to your workspace.
- If they already have a Synacl login, accepting adds your workspace to their account. Their next sign-in opens your workspace (or whichever one they used last), and they can move between workspaces from the profile menu — see Team members and roles.
Until they accept, the invite shows as Pending in the members list. Pending invites still count toward your seat limit.
Someone you removed earlier can be invited again — they get a fresh invite and start over with whatever role you pick now.
Change a member's role
In the members list, use the role dropdown next to a member to switch their role. The change takes effect on their next request — within a minute at most. The Owner row can't be changed.
A few limits apply to everyone except the Owner:
- You can only move a member into a role whose permissions you hold yourself.
- You can't change a member whose current role includes a permission yours doesn't.
- You can't change your own role — another admin or the Owner has to do it.
If a member's role is narrowed, any API tokens or connected AI apps they hold are trimmed to match at the same time.
Limit a member to some devices
If your account has Device access (it's being switched on account by account), open the member and choose All devices or Selected gateways and devices. It needs the Owner or Manage members, takes effect immediately, and a member limited this way can't invite people or change anyone's role or access. What they see and can do is described in Team members and roles.
Remove a member
Click Remove next to the member. They immediately lose access to your workspace (their own Synacl login still exists; they just can no longer act in your account), and their phone stops receiving your workspace's push notifications. Any API tokens or connected AI apps they held in your workspace are revoked at the same moment; those for their own account are untouched. If they happen to be signed in at the time they aren't signed out: their session leaves your workspace the next time it refreshes, within minutes.
You can't remove a member whose role includes a permission yours doesn't (the Owner can remove anyone), and you can invite a removed member back at any time.
Tokens and AI apps your members hold
Members can create API tokens and connect AI assistants that act with their own permissions. If you can Manage members, the Agent access tab on the Team page lists every token and connected app held by anyone in the workspace — who holds it, what it's allowed, when it was last used — and lets you revoke any of them. Use it when someone's laptop goes missing or an assistant is doing something it shouldn't, without waiting for that member to act.
Seats and limits
The page header shows seats used vs. your plan's limit (a plan with unlimited seats shows no count). If Invite is disabled:
- On Free plan — team members require a paid plan. Upgrade to add seats.
- At your limit — remove a member or upgrade for more seats.
