Debug a gateway remotely from the mobile app
You don't need to be next to the gateway, on its Wi-Fi, or joined to its access point to check on it. As long as the gateway is online, the Synacl app talks to it through the platform over its existing secure connection — so you can debug it from anywhere, even on cellular.
Open the Gateways list in the app and tap a gateway, then tap Remote debug.
Diagnostics snapshot
Tap Run to pull a one-shot health snapshot:
- Uptime, free memory, and MQTT connection state
- IP address, Wi-Fi signal, and firmware version
- Per-device health — which devices are reading, how many recent failures, and the last error
- The most recent log lines
Tap Refresh any time for a fresh snapshot.
Live logs
Flip Live logs on to stream the gateway's logs in real time — useful for watching what happens while you change something. The stream auto-stops after 5 minutes (and when you leave the screen) to save data and battery.
The phone streams the gateway's basic lines: the tail starting and stopping, and the commands the gateway receives. To choose other categories, such as network, Modbus or sensors, use Live Logs on the gateway page in the web app. See Watch a gateway's live logs from the web app.
Requirements
- The gateway must be online. An offline gateway can't be reached remotely — bring it back onto Wi-Fi first.
- You need the Debug gateways permission. Team members whose role lacks it don't see Remote debug in the app.
- The gateway needs firmware 1.3.0 or newer. If Remote debug is greyed out with "Update firmware to enable", run Update firmware from the gateway page first.
Remote debug is read-only diagnostics — it never changes your device configuration. To change what a gateway monitors, edit its devices as usual; to reboot or clear config, use Restart / Reset configuration.
